Abstract
The aim of this essay is to study the concept of nature in Alexandre Kojève’s philosophy, with a special reference to the major work of the Russian philosopher, the Introduction à la lecture de Hegel. The concept of nature detains a pivotal role in the context of Kojève’s philosophy and it represents the basis of the form of realism (“ontological dualism”) that Kojève assumes as fundamental in his system. Moreover, in Kojève’s philosophy nature is assimilated to space, while man to time: therefore, nature assumes the role of a passive object that has to be negated by man in order to produce history.
