Abstract
The aim of this paper is to analyze Charbonneau’s commitment to a return to nature, while taking into account that, on the cultural level, his focus is on the human being. Discharged from the responsibility of choosing and numbed from society’s justifications, the human being can become a catalyst of change, real and material, to be carried forward in the name of an internal need.
This point of view means, above all, abandoning the dismissive attitude and no longer justifying, as an inhabitant of the earth, society’s development model.
What might seem a paradox is Charbonneau’s ethos. To develop a culture of respect towards nature the author aims at the essential, so that a new meaning can be given to progress: freedom.
