Invisibles frontières

Abstract
Between Tzvetan Todorov, the Bulgarian of Paris and Victor Stoichita, the Romanian of Friborg, more than one common point can be detected : above all, a childhood spent behind the Iron Curtain, works whose aura extends beyond their disciplinary fields and, last but not the least, an interest in otherness. Both are border beings and their intellectual destinies help us to understand the productive value of the in between of territories, sciences, objects and beings. The quest for Europe’s borders is a quest for oneself at the end of which one can discover Europe as a border space. Being able to live together is the point, the end of Todorov, Nous et les autres.
